  • Mike D'Antoni Announces He Will Not Return

After a disappointing end to the Houston Rockets' season, Mike D'Antoni has announced that he will not be returning as their head coach. In his four seasons with Houston, D'Antoni was 217-102 in his games; he advanced to the Western Conference finals once and to the semifinals three times. A 2-time Coach of the Year, he led the Rockets to the highest winning percentage in the Western Conference over the past four years (.682), and was second in the league behind the Toronto Raptors (.695). Over the same interval, the only teams with more playoff victories than the Rockets' 28 were the Raptors with 31, the Celtics with 33, and the Warriors with 46.

There's no doubt his departure will be a critical blow to the Rockets franchise. There will surely be questions for them to answer in the upcoming off-season, and change is certainly on their horizon as they start to rebuild their program.
