Rob Pelinka is Promoted and Agrees to Sign Extension
In March, 2017, Rob Pelinka was hired as the general manger for the Los Angeles Lakers, prompting him to move on from his prior profession as an NBA sports agent. Over the next few years, the Lakers made several key acquisitions, including Dwight Howard, Anthony Davis, and, most notably, former MVP LeBron James, with each addition involving varying levels of contribution from Pelinka. The Lakers have improved from a lottery team to legitimate championship contenders, currently sitting as the 1st seed in the Western Conference. Now, according to multiple league sources, Rob Pelinka has been promoted to vice-president of basketball operations, in addition to accepting an extension to his initial five-year contract. He will apparently remain with the Lakers staff well into the foreseeable future. Only time will tell what further contributions Pelinka will make to the franchise's well-being.
