Zion Williamson Set to Return
Back in mid-October, during the NBA pre-season, top draft-pick Zion Williamson suffered a disappointing injury in his right knee, which he supposedly suffered during a game against the Spurs. It required surgery, and it was estimated he would be out 6-8 weeks. That pushed his long-awaited debut to around early to mid-December.
As time went on, he seemed to make steady progress, but it wasn't as fast as the Pelicans, or their fans, had hoped. His recovery time grew longer and longer, and by the new year, Zion had yet to return. Media began to speculate whether or not he would, or should, sit out the entire season. It appeared to be a rather disappointing start to the career of a supposed generational talent, to say the least.
However, recently, the shroud of uncertainty dissipated. A few days ago, Zion Williamson's highly anticipated debut was confirmed by the Pelicans. He is set to return on Wednesday, January 22nd, for a home-game against the San Antonio Spurs (ironic, isn't it?). Only then will we see the potential impacts of his injury, and his ability to translate his game to the professional level.
