NBA commissioner Adam Silver says league will address expansion 'this season'

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said Tuesday the league’s owners are not quite ready to commit to expansion, but that interest remains high in Seattle.

During part of his question-and-answer session after the annual Board of Governors meeting in New York, Silver was asked by KOMO News whether there has been any firm discussion at the conference about forming a committee to study the issue.

“It was something that we told our board we plan to address this season,” Silver said, in part. “We're not quite ready yet, but I think that there's certainly interest in the process.”

Silver also said the league does keep track of the attendance and interest around exhibition games and will be keeping an eye on the Los Angeles Clippers exhibition game at Climate Pledge Arena next month and whether it works as a suitable NBA facility.
